  1. Every year someone says it's finally teh year of teh Linux desktop... i'm wondering if it quietly already happened... i've been thinking about putting Linux Mint on a machine for a gamer. Browsing, email, video calls, maybe some light documents 😅 The one thing i worry about is office document formatting. Is Linux actually ready for normal people, or are enthusiasts just too used to teh rough edges to notice them?

  4. lol same thing happened to me the best Linux installs for non-technical ppl are ones where someone else handles teh setup and updates... enable auotmatic updates, pin teh browser to the panel, and it can be more stable than the Windows install it replaced.

  6. ok so office formatting is real. LibreOffice opens most documents fine, but complex layouts and macros can break. If someone shares doucments with Office users daily, the web version of Office in a browser is a practical workaround.

ok so for printers, check if the model supports driverless printing (IPP Everywhere / AirPrint)... most recent network printers just work through CUPS, older USB printers with proprietary drivers are where the pain lives. hope that helps :)
