long time lurker first post lol every year someone says its finally the year of the Linux desktop. im wondering if it quietly already happened. ive been thinking about putting Ubuntu on a machine for a gamer. browsing, email, video calls, maybe some light documents. the one thing I worry about is office document formatting. is Linux actually ready for normal people, or are enthusiasts just too used to teh rough edges to notice them? thx in advance!!

for printers, check if the model supports driverless printing (IPP Everywhere / AirPrint)... most recent netwrok printers just work through CUPS.. lmao older USB printers with proprietary drivers are where the pain lives.
