ok weird one debate prompt: subscriptions are fairer than one-time purchases because software needs constant updates and security fixes. I half believe it, then my note-taking app raised its price again and I started looking for open source alternatives... which apps do you happily pay for monthly, and which ones did you replace?? im not against paying developers. I just wanna understand which models are fair and which ones are just squeezing loyal users.
is youll own nothing a fair criticism of modern software?

yeahhh some subscriptions are genuienly fair: anything that runs servers for you, like cloud storage, sync, or a password manager with cross device sync, has ongoing costs. paying for those is reasonable. hope that helps :)
