been there man antivirus is a good example of a subscription many home users can drop 馃憤 the built-in protection in modern Windows is solid for most people, combined with sensible habits and updates. hope that helps :)

  1. ok weird one debate prompt: subscriptions are fairer than one-time purchases because software needs constant updates and security fixes. I half believe it, then my note-taking app raised its price again and I started looking for open source alternatives... which apps do you happily pay for monthly, and which ones did you replace?? im not against paying developers. I just wanna understand which models are fair and which ones are just squeezing loyal users.

  2. Is your the vendor scan app storing data you'd need to move somewhere else first?

  3. yeahhh some subscriptions are genuienly fair: anything that runs servers for you, like cloud storage, sync, or a password manager with cross device sync, has ongoing costs. paying for those is reasonable. hope that helps :)

  5. nah tbh i think teh subscription model is fine, the problem is pricing and bundling. If prices were fair and cancellation was easy, most people wouldn't mind.
