ok so hot take: editing native is overrated for most projects. Or is it? I edit 6K RAW on an older workstation, and Id love to hear real experiences before I commit to a workflow. Experiences from people with similar hardware would be esepcially valuable. What made you choose ur current approach? Any advice is welcome, especially from people with similar hardware :D I will report back with what I pick.
Do you transcode everything, or just hope playback holds up?
hmmmm quick q does ur GPU support hardware decoding for that codec?? ?
sorry forgot to say its 10-bit 4:2:2 H.265, which Ive heard is tough. sorry for the wall of text lol
ahh classic have u checked your workflow settings? mine were reset after an update lmk how it goes
lol same thing happened to me store proxies on a fast SSD separate from source media if possible, and clean them up after projects to manage disk space.
hmmm check if ur GPU supports hardware decoding for your exact codec profile 馃憤 if it does, native editing may work fine. if not, proxies help hugely. hope that helps :)
@rusty_gremlin turns out my GPU doesnt decode 4:2:2. proxies it is, and its night and day.
HOW MUCH VRAM DO YOU REALLY NEED FOR MULTICAM 4K INTERVIEWS? ugh
