Genuine question from someone whos been doing websites for a while but never thought hard about DNS. For a side project, is using the hosts nameservers actually worth it? 😅 i hear argmuents about uptime, speed, control and lock-in, but i cant tell which ones are real and which are marketing. If youve done this for a few years, Id love to hear ur setup and what ud change. Practical exeprience beats theory for me, sooo please share what actually happened to u. im about to throw this thing out the window lol
Am I Crazy For Considering Using The Host's Nameservers On A Side Project?
been there man for a single personal blog, keeping DNS wherever is easiest is completely fine 😤 The best setup is the one you remember how to log into. Use strong passwords and two-factor on the registrar account; that matters more than where the zone lives. hope that helps :)
yeahhh for client portfolios, centralize. twenty domains across ten registrars is how renewals get missed. pick one registrar with good bulk tools and one DNS provider with an API, and keep an export of every zone file somewhere safe.
ok update: did what @lambdarider said and its fine now owe u a beer 🍺
