hmmmm ok genuine question from someone whos been doing websites for a while but never thought hard about DNS. for an online shop, is splitting registrar and DNS provider actually worth it?? i hear arguments about uptime, speed, control and lock-in, but i cant tell which ones are real and which are marketing. if uve done this for a few years, Id love to hear your setup and what youd change. practical experience beats theory for me, so pls share what actaully happened to you. thx in advance!!
before i commit to splitting registrar and dns provider... talk me out of it

Jump to the replyFor a single personal blog, keeping DNS wherever is easiest is completely fine. The best setup is the one you remember how to log into. Use strong passwords and two-facotr on the registrar account; that matters more than where the zone lives.
Is email on these domains handled by the same provider??
ahh right for an online shop we change records maybe twice a year, but when we do, it's usually urgent.
