Fixing "Driver Is Unavailable" Without Reinstalling Windows

ahh classic after a major Windows upgrade, older printer drivers may be blocked as incompatible. Download teh newest package for your OS from teh printer makers support page, not an old CD or cached installer. good luck man!

    guys pls help after a system restore, my ofifce printer shows "Driver is unavailable" under Printers & scanners. Printing obviously doesnt work. The printer itself is fine, and my laptop prints to it with no issues. Heres what Windows shows:

    i reinstalled Canon i250 Driver 1.00 Add-on Module , the installer said success, and the status is still "Driver is unavailable". im not suree what else to try. is there some leftover that blocks the new driver from loading? thx in advance!!

    wait did u remove teh driver pacakge or just the printer?

    remove the printer, then remove the driver package too: Printers & scanners > Print server prpoerties > Drivers tab, select the driver, Remove > Remove driver and driver package, then reboot and install fresh. hope that helps :)

    Check the driver store: pnputil /enum-drivers lists printer driver packages (class Printer). Remove stale ones with pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall /force.

    Sometimes the Windows built-in driver is more reliable than the vendor's full package for basic printing.

    @solid_shed removed all three old packages with pnputil, rebooted, installed i250 Driver 1.00 Add-on Module fresh, the office printer prints again! u guys are the best!!!
