respectfully disgaree, i tried that and it made device-manager worse but hey ymmv

if the USB microphone draws a lot of power, a bus-powered hub or a long cable can starve it, try a powered hub or the shortest cable u own. hope that helps :)

hmmm wait does this also apply to monitor's? ??

shut the PC down completely, unplug teh power cable for a minute, then boot. this clears teh USB controller state and fixes a surprising number of these.
