guys pls help our group of a community of 30 keeps arguing about this. One side wants to rent a server, the other side says a refurbished office PC is good enough for a block-buildnig sandbox. Id love input from ppl whove done both. Wed mostly play evenings and weekends, sometimes with a few mods. Im curious what problems people ran into that they didnt expect when they started. im about to throw this thing out the window lol
YOUR SERVER, YOUR RULES? SELF-HOSTING A BLOCK-BUILDING SANDBOX FOR A COMMUNITY OF 30
ok so my upload is decent and i do have a public IP, i checked. idk what else to say tbh
yeahhh upload speed matters more than download for hosting. Each player needs a stable chunk of upload bandwidth, and heavily modded servers need more. Check your real upload speed before deicding.
hmmmm ok told my boss it would take 10 minutes.. 🙏 its been 20 minutes any ideas??
yeahhh low-power boards can handle light servers, but many modern survival or modded games need more RAM and CPU than pepole expect 😤 Check the games recommended server specs.
@ember_pusher795 decided to self-host with a limited user and only teh necessary ports :) its been running well for a community of 30 so far. cant believe it was that simple lol
