long time lurker first post lol my mom handed me a box of hard drives and said this is everything. its every video of my kids since birth. i want to set up smth that will still be readable in twenty years and that protects against a house fire. is an old PC turned file server a good start, or is that just one more thing that can fail? simple and boring is fine with me, as long as it actually works.
Explain backups to me like Im the familys accidental IT person
make a backup before u touch the update, learned that the hard way
lol same thing happened to me pro tip: write down what u change. i didnt and had to redo video from scratch
try turning off the firmware first, fixed it for me
yeahhh honestly just reset the firmware and save yourself teh pain. same issue here on my desktop. no idea whats going on
oh ive been there lol RAID or a mirrored NAS is not a backup. It protects against one drive dying, not against deletion, ransomware or a fire... u still need a separate copy somewhere else.
have u checked your turned settings? mine were reset after an update 馃槀 @livk78 what did u end up doing in the end fingers crossed 馃
