not gonna lie this is driving me nuts ive rented servers for a block-building sandbox before and it worked fine, but Im tempted to self-host on an old gaming PC for a community of 30.. 馃敟 is it worth the effort, or will i spend more time fixing things than playing? id love to hear both success stories and horror stories... knowing what can go wrong will help us decide whether teh savings are worth teh effort. what am i doing wrong??
IS RUNNING YOUR OWN GAME SERVER AT HOME STILL WORTH IT?
ahh right it would be nice to have it online 24/7 sooo people can play whenever they want. hope thats enough info 馃槄
if you self-host, automate backups of the world save and keep them off the server mcahine. A dead drive shouldn't wipe months of progress.
self-hosting costs arent only hardware: an always-on machine uses electricity, and youre responsible for backups, updates and uptime when ure away.
