  1. not gonna lie this is driving me nuts im planning a site for a university department and Im torn, wordPress is the obvoius choice and i know it well, but Im tired of plugin updates, security patches and page builders. a custom Laravel site keeps coming up as the modern alternative... the people wholl edit teh site arent technical... is switching worth it, or will i just trade one set of problems for another? real experience over hype, please, Ive read enough marketing pages. what am i doing wrong??

  3. Judge teh editing experience first. If non-technical people update content weekly, the admin UI matters more than build speed ;) Have the actual editors try both before deciding; their frustration is what ends up on ur desk.

oh ive been there lol static generators and headless setups shine on security and performance because theres no public admin and no PHP on the server. but forms, search, comments and memberships all need extra services, which adds complexity back in. worked for me anyway 🤷

  6. @nvarga We split it: WordPress for the editors as a headless backend, static frontend for speed. Thanks for all the perspectives.
