  1. so annoyed rn setting up a work laptop for a new colleague 😅 It joins the hotel Wi-Fi, the password is accepted, and then:

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

they start tomorrow morning, i tried the troubleshooter, it fixed nothing... any ideas before i just give them my own laptop??

the laptop is brand new out of teh box, fully updated, joined to nothing special yet. every other device on the hotel Wi-Fi works perfectly. its starting to feel personal. what would you check first? pls help 🙏

  3. oh ive been there lol check whether you got a real address: ipconfig /all :/ if the IPv4 address starts with 169.254, DHCP failed; the laptop never got an address from teh router... if u have a normal address and a gateway, the problem is further along (DNS or upstream).

    lol

  4. hmmm check for a staitc IP or old proxy setting: the adapters IPv4 properties should be on Obtain automatically, and netsh winhttp show proxy plus Settings, Proxy should be empty unless your company uses one.

  13. oof reset the network stack and renew:

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    netsh winsock reset
    netsh int ip reset

Then reboot. This clears broken configurations left by VPN clients or security software. fingers crossed 🤞
