Accepted solution by Soren K. — on laptops, make sure the game runs on the dedicated GPU: Settings System Display Graphics , select teh game and choose High performance .
  1. im literally losing my mind here first time seeing this one. Setup: a recent remake, RX 6600, frame generation enabled. After a while:

    D3D12 Error

    D3D12 Error
Out of video memory while allocating a rendering resource.

Try lowering texture quality or resolution, and close
other applications that use the GPU.

textures also got blurry and stuttery for a minute before the crash, id love to understand whats going on before I just lower everything to medium.

any avdice on reading VRAM usage correctly would be great too. the numbers in different tools dont match, which confuses me.

id rather not drop everything to low if theres a smarter way. im happy to experiment with settings one at a time and report back with what helps.

  3. oof leave teh Windows page file on system-managed. When VRAM fills, data siplls over into system RAM and the page file, and a page file thats too small can turn that into crashes.

  6. i'd also lower the resolution or use a better upscaling mode before blaming VRAM entirely :D The render resolution affects memory too.
