Accepted solution by Vera B. — hmmm if one controller drops and another doesnt in the same place, the controller is likely teh problem. If both drop, look at placement…
  1. ok weird one my special-edition controller keeps disconnecting from my Xbox One X every few minutes. The game pauses and I get this:

    Controller disconnected

    Controller disconnected
Reconnect the wireless controller to continue.
Press the home button on the controller,
or connect it with a USB cable.

i put in fresh batteries, i re-paired it with the sync button, and i even moved colser to the TV. it reconnects after a few seconds, but in competitive games those seconds matter. is there smth in settings, or is the controller faulty?

i tried a second controller from a friend for comparison, and it seemed a bit better, but Im not sure if that was luck. id rather understand the cause. thx in advance!!

  2. Move the console out of teh cabinet or away from metal and other wireless devices lmao Xbox controllers use their own wireless protocol on the console, and enclosed spaces and interference cause exactly this pattern. fingers crossed 🤞

  7. nah tbh id check the battery contacts too. A bent contact can lose connection when the controller moves, which feels exactly like a wireless drop.
