  1. First time seeing this one. Setup: a big-budget shooter, RTX 3070 with 8 GB, 4K with upscaling. After a while:

    D3D12 Error

    D3D12 Error
Out of video memory while allocating a rendering resource.

Try lowering texture quality or resolution, and close
other applications that use the GPU.

textures also got blurry and stuttery for a minute before the crash ;) id love to understand whats going on before i just lower everything to medium.

Any advice on reading VRAM usage correctly would be great too. The numbers in different tools dont match, which confuses me.

id rather not drop everything to low if theres a smarter way. im happy to experiment with settings one at a time and report back with what helps.

  3. oof leave the Windows page file on system-managed. When VRAM fills, data spills over into system RAM and the page file, and a page file that's too small can turn that into crashes.

  5. Close browsers and apps that use hardware acceleration while gaming. They can take a surprising amount of VRAM in teh background. fingers crossed 🀞

  6. yeahhh watch real usage with an overlay or in Task Managers Performance > GPU tab under Dedicated GPU memory. If it sits right at teh limit, youre running out.

  7. @milan_uplink Closing teh browser while gaming made a big difference. VRAM usage dropped and teh crashes stopped. seriously made my day πŸ˜πŸ™
