Many laptops have a BIOS recovery mode: often holding a key combination (like Ctrl+Esc or Win+B) while connecting the charger, sometimes with a recovery file on a USB stick. Check ur PC makers support page for the exact procedure for ur model. worked for me anyway 馃し

  1. my home-built PC wont boot after a firmware update.

Reboot and Select proper Boot device

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

the udpate was going fine until the fans went to full speed :D i waited a long time before touching anything, then finally turned it off. now it powers on but shows nothing. ive read about BIOS recovery features but idk whether my machine has them. help me figure out my options before i start pricing new motherboards. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  3. been there man for next time: run firmware updates on AC power (and with a charged battery on laptops), close other apps, and suspend BitLocker beforehand if you use it. good luck man!
