  1. ok weird one our office multifunction supports driverless printing, and Windows can add it without any vendor software. but Canon also offers i900D Printer Driver 1.73d. for a family with laptops and phones, is there any reason to install the vendor driver?? im hoping driverless means fewer problems after Windows updates, but i dont want to lose important features. curious about ur experiences. real experiences from ppl who tried it would help a lot.

  3. Keep teh printers firmware updated through its web intreface. Driverless support improves through firmware updates too.

  4. add teh printer by IP to avoid discovery issues. in Add device > Add manually, choose to add using an IP address and let Windows pick the IPP class driver if offered.

  5. been there man mixing is fine: use driverless on most PCs and intsall the vendor driver only where advanced features are needed.

  6. ahh classic advanced features like booklet printing, special finishing, secure print or accounting codes often need teh vendor driver. Check what a Docker setup actually uses.
