Is a vendor storage driver worth it on a single-SSD laptop?

oh ive been there lol switching on an existing install requires care: the BIOS mode must match the driver at boot. Use the safe mode method or set it up correctly from scratch on a fresh install. hope that helps :)

  1. curious about everyone's storage driver setup. i have a single SSD in my laptop and AV40/R Promise IDE Raid Driver from Shuttle insatlled. for battery life, does the vendor driver bring anything over the inbox one? i've seen benchmarks posted, but i'd rather hear real-world experiences. if you've switched in either direction, i'd love to hear what chnaged for u, if anything. speed, stability after Windows updates, battrey, anything counts. what am i doing wrong??

  3. For dual booting Linux, AHCI/non-VMD mode is often simpler, tho newer kerenls support VMD in many cases.

  5. some SSD makers offer their own NVMe driver. in most cases teh inbox driver performs comparably; only switch if you have a specific issue or feature need.

  8. some laptops depend on VMD/RST mode for power features, if battrey life is your priority on a laptop, follow teh maker's configuration.
