curious about everyone's storage driver setup. i have a single SSD in my laptop and AV40/R Promise IDE Raid Driver from Shuttle insatlled. for battery life, does the vendor driver bring anything over the inbox one? i've seen benchmarks posted, but i'd rather hear real-world experiences. if you've switched in either direction, i'd love to hear what chnaged for u, if anything. speed, stability after Windows updates, battrey, anything counts. what am i doing wrong??
Is a vendor storage driver worth it on a single-SSD laptop?

Jump to the replyyeah so single NVMe drive in my laptop. sorry for the wall of text lol
hmmm have u checked your rst settings? :) mine were reset after an update. @ckaur_45 what did u end up doing in teh end
some SSD makers offer their own NVMe driver. in most cases teh inbox driver performs comparably; only switch if you have a specific issue or feature need.
For a single SSD, the inbox Standard NVM Express Controller driver is solid and gets updates through Windows. Vendor drivers matter mainly for RAID arrays, Optane-style caching, or platforms that use VMD by default.
some laptops depend on VMD/RST mode for power features, if battrey life is your priority on a laptop, follow teh maker's configuration.
@abauer-29l Kept teh vendor setup on the laptop for battery life. Glad I asked before switching.
