is a vendor storage driver worth it on a single-ssd workstation?

Accepted solution by Ibrahim Z. — for dual booting Linux, AHCI/non VMD mode is often simpler, tho newer kernels support VMD in many cases. fingers crossed šŸ¤ž
  1. Curious about everyones storage driver setup. i have a single SSD in my workstation and SH-S223F Firmware from Samsung installed. For Linux dual boot, does the vendor driver bring anything over the inbox one? šŸ™ Ive seen benchmarks posted, but Id rather hear real-world experiences. If youve switched in either direction, Id love to hear what changed for you, if anything. Speed, stability after Windows updates, battery, anything counts. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

have u tried turning it off and on again (im only half joking)

  3. ahh classic some SSD makers offer their own NVMe driver. In most cases teh inbox driver performs comparably; only switch if you have a specific issue or feature need. hope that helps :)
