oof install teh chipset package that teh PC or motherboard maker lists for ur exact model, rather than a generic one from vednor, and check for a BIOS update. USB stability often depends on both. good luck man!

  1. USB is acting cursed on my desktop.

    USB Audio Device Properties

    Device status:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

an external drive drops out at random, and teh port stays dead until a restart. I updated the chipset driver from ASUS last week, and thats when it started. I checked Device Manager and sometimes a USB cotnroller shows a warning. What should I look at first? Ive already tried another cable and a different device in the same port. Id rather not replace teh motherboard if a setting can fix it.

  2. if one heavy device like wireless mouse drops out, try a powered hub. some ports cant supply enough current, and that can look exactly like a driver problem. fingers crossed 馃

  3. hmmm roll back the controller driver: Device Manager > USB controllers > USB xHCI Compatible Host Controller > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver. Note that the inbox Microsoft xHCI driver is usually used; chipset packages mostly add INF names, but some include actual drivers. worked for me anyway 馃し
