been there man if one heavy device like a keyboard drops out, try a powered hub. Some ports cant supply enough current, and that can look exactly like a driver problem.

  1. help!! every few hours my desktop loses a webcam, and teh USB port stops responding.

i'm on the X50 Bios package from Shuttle. i've seen people mention USB selective supsend, power management, and chipset drivers. i'd love to understand which one is most likely, because changing all of them at once won't tell me anything. i'm happy to test one thing at a time and report back with results. seriously need help here 馃槶

  4. been there man install the chipset package that the PC or motherboard maker lists for your exact model, rather than a generic one from Shuttle, and check for a BIOS update. USB stability often depends on both. good luck man!

  8. Roll back teh controller driver: Device Manager > USB controllers > USB xHCI Compatible Host Controller > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver. Note that teh inbox Microsoft xHCI driver is usually used; chipset packages mostly add INF names, but some include actual drivers. lmk how it goes

  9. hmmm check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System around the disconnect time for evnets from USBHUB3, USBXHCI or Kernel-PnP. Errors there point to the controller driver or power issues.
