not gonna lie this is driving me nuts every time i open the NVIDIA app it asks which branch i want and i click whichever is selected... now Im doing serious 3D modeling with deadlines and i care more about stability than the newest game fixes, is the slower branch genuinely more tested, or is it the same driver with a different label? i would also like to know if switching branches is painful, or if it is just a matter of downloading a different package and installing it cleanly. thx in advance!!
has anyone actually noticed a difference between driver branches for 3d modeling??
@arjun.vance works on paper, not in real life. ok this thread just saved my weekend idk maybe im wrong lol
ahh right i rarely play new games on launch day, Im usually a few months behind.
been there man dont hop branches every week. Pick one, note the version, and only change when something you need is fixed or added. Frequent switching makes troubleshooting harder.
hmmm broadly: gaming branches ship faster with optimizations for new releases... studio/stable branches ship less often and focus on validation with creative apps... both run games and apps fine... the difference is cadence and test focus, not capability. hope that helps :)
@lars_polar Moved to teh studio branch for 3D modeling and Ill only update between projects. Simple rule, less stress.
