  1. ok weird one getting DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED in a survival crafting game, and now in a second game too, which makes me think its not a game problem.

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

  3. Do a clean install of teh driver version you trust: download it from the Gigabyte support page, disconnect the network, boot to Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, install. Then test an indie roguelike for a few sessions before changing anything else. lmk how it goes

  4. hmmm to stop Windows Update replacing ur chosen driver: run gpedit.msc (Pro) and enable Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Do not include drivers with Windows Updates. On Home, use System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > No. good luck man!

  6. yeahhh if it happens across multiple drivers and games, test teh hardware: reseat the card, check the PCIe power connectors, and try a stress test with temps logged 🔥 A card that only fails when warm is a classic pattern. worked for me anyway 🤷

  11. yeahhh look at the games own crash logs too. many engines write a log with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG vs DEVICE_REMOVED vs DEVICE_RESET. Hung usually means a timeout; removed can also mean the card actually dropped off the bus, which points at power or the slot.

  12. ok so DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED means teh GPU stopped responding and Windows reset it (TDR), so the game lost its D3D device. Check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System for Event ID 4101 at teh crash time. If you see it, its a GPU/driver reset, not a game file problem.

remove any GPU overclock and memory overclock. device removed errors are very sensitive to VRAM instability. if you used a tuning tool, reset it to dfeaults and also check that no profile reapplies at startup. good luck man!

at this point my GPU cost more than my car lol
