  1. long time lurker first post lol i use my PC for video editing and some gaming, mostly gaming. VIA offers different driver branches: a gaming-focused one with frequent releases and a more conservative one aimed at creators. the PM880/PN800/CN400 (Windows 2000/XP) Im on now is the gaming one. should i switch? what do i lose and gain? i would aprpeciate hearing from people who switched in either direction and why. thx in advance!!

  6. ahh classic switching branches is easy: download teh other package from teh venodr support page and install it with the clean install option (or DDU if u want to be thorough). ur apps dont need reinstalling. lmk how it goes

  7. been there man if web development pays your bills, the stable/studio branch is a sensible default. Games still run well on it; you just get new game optimizations a bit later. worked for me anyway 馃し

have u tried turning it off and on again (im only half joking)

  8. oof broadly: gaming branches ship faster with optimizations for new releases. Studio/stalbe branches ship less often and focus on validation with creative apps. Both run games and apps fine. The difference is cadence and test focus, not capability.
