  1. so annoyed rn i installed the NVIDIA Aopen AK79D-400V nVIDIA nForce Driver R3.13 update last night and this morning my living-room PC looked like this on the desktop:

    gpu artifacts

little colored blocks, filckering lines, sometimes a whole strip of teh screen goes green for a moment. it doesnt crash, it just looks horrible. my stomach dropped because artifacts usually mean dying hardware, right? but its suspicious that it started exactly after the update. how do i tell which one it is wihtout spending money? pls help 🙏

  2. hmmm do a proper clean install of the previous driver: download it from the NVIDIA support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager sometimes leaves the problematic profiles in place.

the real fix was the friends we made along the way

oh ive been there lol your BIOS observation is a good clue. If artifacts appear only after Windows loads the driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software. If they show up in BIOS too, think hardware.
