Are these artifacts my GPU dying or just GeForce Quadro Graphics Driver 310.40 for FreeBSD 64-bit being weird??

If artifacts persist after DDU and an older driver, and even appear in BIOS, back up your data and look into warranty. Don't keep stress testing a card that shows artifacts in BIOS. worked for me anyway 🤷

rgb adds +10 fps everyone knows that

  1. ok weird one i installed the NVIDIA GeForce Quadro Graphics Driver 310.40 for FreeBSD 64-bit update last night and this morning my home-built PC looked like this in teh browser:

    gpu artifacts

little colored blocks, flickering lines, someitmes a whole strip of teh screen goes green for a moment... it doesn't crash, it just looks horrible... my stomach dropped because artifacts usually mean dying hardware, right? but it's suspicious that it satrted exactly after the upadte. how do i tell which one it is without spending money?

  2. Your BIOS observation is a good clue. If artifacts appear only after Windows loads the driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software 😂 If they show up in BIOS too, think hardware.

  3. do a proper clean install of the previous driver: download it from teh NVIDIA support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, rbeoot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager smoetimes leaves the problematic profiles in place.

  5. safe Mode being clean doesnt fully clear the hardware... safe Mode barely loads the GPU, so a weak card can look fine there.

at this point my GPU cost more than my car lol

  8. @adal787 omggg removed teh memory overclock and teh artifacts in teh browser disappeared even on GeForce Quadro Graphics Driver 310.40 for FreeBSD 64-bit . The update just exposed an OC that was never stable.
