ur BIOS observation is a good clue. if artifacts appear only after Windows loads the driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software. if they show up in BIOS too, think hardware. fingers crossed 馃

  1. i installed the NVIDIA Forceware Drivers (Windows 9X/ME) 56.64 Certified update last night and this morning my gaming desktop looked like this in games:

    gpu artifacts

Little colored blocks, flickering lines, sometimes a whole strip of the screen goes green for a moment. It doesnt crash, it just looks horrible lmao My stomach dropped cuz artifacts usually mean dying harwdare, right? But its suspicious that it started exactly after the update. How do i tell which one it is without spending money?? pls help 馃檹

  3. oof test with a second display output or a different port. If artiafcts move with the screen content in screenshots, it's rendering (GPU). If they don't appear in a screenshot but do on the monitor, the cable, port or monitor itself is involved. lmk how it goes

  4. do a proper clean install of the previous driver: download it from teh NVIDIA support page, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, then install. A plain rollback in Device Manager sometimes leaves the problematic profiles in place.

  6. Safe Mode being clean doesnt fully clear teh hardware. Safe Mode barely loads the GPU, so a weak card can look fine there.

  7. @earlygarage-134 Removed teh memory overclock and teh artifacts in games disappeared even on Forceware Drivers (Windows 9X/ME) 56.64 Certified . The update just exposed an OC that was never stable. seriously made my day 馃槶馃檹
