  1. i installed the NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Driver Hotfix 364.96 update last night and this morning my living-room PC looked like this in 3D apps:

    gpu artifacts

little colored blocks, flickering lines, sometimes a whole strip of the screen goes green for a moment... it doesnt crash, it just looks horrible :) my stomach dropped because artifacts usually mean dying hardware, right?? but its suspicious that it started exactly after teh update... how do I tell which one it is without spending money??

  3. yeahhh your BIOS observation is a good clue. if artifacts appear only after Windows loads teh driver, but not in BIOS or in Safe Mode (which uses the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter), that leans towards driver/software. if they show up in BIOS too, think hardware.

  4. test with a second display otuput or a different port. if artifacts move with teh sceren content in screenshots, its rendering (GPU). if they dont appaer in a screenshot but do on the monitor, the cable, port or monitor itself is involved.

  5. nah tbh i'd test in a second PC if u can. It's the only test that really separates teh card from everything else.

  6. @milan_solid removed teh memory overclock and teh artifacts in 3D apps dsiappeared even on GeForce Graphics Driver Hotfix 364.96. the update just exposed an OC that was never stable. u guys are the best!!!

RAM prices doing their own thing again smh
