To stop Windows Update replacing it, use Device Installation Settings > No (System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware) or teh Group Policy "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" on Pro. fingers crossed 🤞

  1. ok weird one after installing AMD Radeon Adrenalin Edition Graphics Driver 18.11.1 Hotfix Ive had a black screen after login on my prebuilt tower. Fine, Ill just roll it back. Except teh Roll Back Driver button is greyed out, and when I uninstalled it Windows put a driver back on its own. I keep getting this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    ive heard of DDU, but people say its dangerous and other people say its the only correct way 😅 i just wanna go back to teh driver that worked yesterday. whats the right sequence?

  2. sequence that works: 1) download the older package from the AMD support page and DDU, 2) disconnect the network, 3) boot into Safe Mode (Settings > Recovery > Advanced startup > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings), 4) run DDU, choose Clean and restart, 5) install the older package, 6) reconnect. worked for me anyway 🤷

  3. oh ive been there lol roll Back is greyed out when Windows doesnt have teh previous driver packgae cached.. 🤷 thats normal, not a sign anything is broken, you can see whats stored with pnputil /enum-drivers and remove a specific package with pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall.

  5. ehh for a one-version rollback, teh installers own clean install chcekbox (when available) is often enough lmao DDU is great, but not always required.

  6. @mutexfiddler dude DDU was much less scary than i expected. Clean install of teh older AMD driver and everything works. Saving this thread for next time. u guys are the best!!!
