WHY DO SO MANY PROS CAP FPS WHEN MORE FRAMES IS BETTER??

  1. long time lurker first post lol ive played open-world games uncapped forever because i thought more FPS always means less lag. Then a friend told me to cap at a few frames below my 165 Hz refresh rate with RTSS. It honestly felt smoother. Now Im confused. Whats the actual answer here? Ive seen people swear by both approaches, and the explanations online contradict each other. Im not a pro, but Id like to understand whats actually happening with input lag here. thx in advance for sharing what works for u. pls help 🙏

  2. wait does your GPU hit 99% usage in an educational math game when uncapped?

  3. been there man in-game limiters are often the lowest latency option because teh game knows when to start teh next frame. the driver limiter is a good second choice... external tools like RTSS give very stable frame times but can add a little latency.

  4. lol same thing happened to me capping reduces heat, power and fan noise, especially in menus. Many games also have a separate menu frame limit setting. good luck man!
