  1. ok weird one hot take: forced updates have done more for my blood pressure than for my securtiy... case in point, during a livestream, this appeared on my gaming PC.

it kept retrying on every reboot. I know the arguments about botnets and unpatched machines, im not saying turn everything off, im saying the user should have teh final say about timing.. lmao convince me otherwise, keep it civil, please. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  2. On Pro editions you can use Group Policy to defer faeture updates while still getting security updates. Thats the sane compromise for small offices: quality fixes fast, big feature changes later after others have tested them. hope that helps :)

  3. im firmly in the automatic camp for non-technical people. the machines that end up in botnets are almost never teh ones run by ppl who read forums :/ theyre teh ones where updates were turned off years ago.

  7. yeahhh the real problem is communictaion. an update that says this will take 40 minutes, do it now or tonight? would end most of this debate. hope that helps :)
