@yara pixel The game had dropped back to the integrated GPU. Set it to High perfromance and a strategy game runs better than before. Wow.
ahh right its a small form factor PC... i checked Graphics settings and the game wasnt in teh list anymore. sorry for the wall of text lol

been there man many GPU installers let you choose components in Custom install, and the HDMI/DisplayPort audio driver is one of them :/ Rerun teh ASUS installer, choose Custom, and make sure the HD audio component is tciked.
