  1. guys pls help im genuinely confused, picture on my monitor with speakers is great, but sound comes out of the laptop speakers only.

It started right after teh ASUS driver update. I've checked teh volume mixer, default device, everything I know of 👍 There's simply no HDMI output to choose. Is there a component I need to install separately?? My family is now watching with subtitles and judging me, so any help would be very welcome. I am comfortable reinstalling the driver if that is what it takes.

  2. hmmm on some setups the HDMI audio only appears when the projector is the active display at boot. Test with only the projector connetced once.

  7. been there man many GPU installers let you choose components in Custom install, and the HDMI/DisplayPort audio driver is one of them :/ Rerun teh ASUS installer, choose Custom, and make sure the HD audio component is tciked.

  8. in Device Manager, check Sound, video and game controllers for teh GPUs HD audio device. also try View > Show hidden devices. if its there but disabled, enable it 👍 if its missing entirely, use Action > Scan for hardware chnages. hope that helps :)

  9. Check the projectors input settings. Some TVs and receivers renegotiate audio formats after a driver change. Power-cycling the projector with the PC on, or changing the TVs HDMI audio mode to PCM, can bring the endpoint back. hope that helps :)

  10. open the classic sound panel with mmsys.cpl, right-click the empty area, enable Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. A disabled HDMI endpoint wont appear in the modern Settings page.

  11. hmmmm not sure about that sometimes its purely the projector. A firmware update on the TV or receiver side can drop audio until teh EDID is renegotiated.

  13. @polar_tinker enabling it in mmsys.cpl plus power-cycling the monitor with speakers did it. HDMI audio is back with Radeon - 8.001 (Windows 2000/XP) . owe u a beer 🍺
