i was updating teh work laptops BIOS using the P7H55-M PRO Bios package from ASUS. then the progress bar froze. since then, black screen. im reasoanbly technical but Ive never had to recover a BIOS. is this repairable at home?? the keyboard lights flash briefly when i press power, then notihng 😭 i have another computer available to download files and prepare a USB stick if a recovery procedure needs it. i just dont want to make things worse by guessing.

  2. for next time: run firmware updates on AC power (and with a charged battery on laptops), close other apps, and suspend BitLocker beforehand if u use it.

  5. first, wait 😂 some firmware updates continue after a reboot with a black screen and fans at full speed. leave it on, plugged in, for at least 15 to 20 minutes before concluding it failed. hope that helps :)

many laptops have a BIOS recovery mode: often holding a key combination (like Ctrl+Esc or Win+B) while connecting the charger, sometimes with a recovery file on a USB stick. check ur PC makers support page for the exact procedure for your model. fingers crossed 🤞
