WordPress sent an email about a technical issue mentioning a plugin, but the recovery mode link just loops back to teh error. This started right after coyping staging to live. I'm not a developer, but I can follow instructions. pls tell me I don't have to rebuild everything. Any help is very welcome, custoemrs are already asking what happened. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  3. The host confirmed they changed the PHP version as part of maintenance, right before copying staging to live. sorry for the wall of text lol

  4. If it started after a PHP version change, an older plugin or theme may use functions remoevd in newer PHP. The debug log will show smth like 'Call to undefined function'. Switch PHP back temporarily in the host's control panel, then update or replace teh incompatible plugin before upgrading PHP again.

  5. hmmm going forward: disable auto-updates for big plugins like page builders and e-comemrce add-ons, update them on staging first, and keep a backup youve actually tested restoring... many hosts offer one-click staging for exactly this.

  8. If the theme is teh problem, rename teh active themes folder in wp-content/themes. wordPress falls back to a default theme if one is installed. or run wp theme activate with a default theme name via WP-CLI.
