  1. ok weird one im a bit embarrassed how long i tolerated this. audio crackles during games, and it gets worse when the system is busy lol device Manager shows:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    ive updated Windows and reinstalled the audio driver. no change... someone mentioned DPC latency, but i have no idea what that means... im wliling to install diagnostic tools, i just need to know which ones are trustworthy... id really like to stop guessing and actually measure whats going on.

  2. oh ive been there lol if LatencyMon points at the Wi-Fi driver, update it from the vendor or test with Wi-Fi disabled. Wireless drivers are a frequent source of DPC spikes.

  9. If youre using a USB DAC, plug it into a rear motherboard port directly, not a hub 😭 Disable USB selective suspend in the power plan. good luck man!

  10. lol same thing happened to me in Sound settings > More sound settings > your device > Properties > Advanced, try a different sample rate like 48000 Hz, and disable audio enhancements.

  14. ok so set the power plan to Balanced or High Performance and check that teh CPU isnt stuck at aggressive power saving... very deep C-states can cause audio dropouts on some systems.

  15. oof install the audio driver from your motherboard or laptop makers support page rather than the generic Windows one. Also install the chipset driver. lmk how it goes

  16. run LatencyMon for a few minutes while teh crackling happens... it shows which driver has teh highest DPC/ISR eexcution time, network, storage and GPU drivers are common offenders. fingers crossed 🤞
