  1. Oh, I like this one. Help me figure out what's going on with my laptop. Games start out somoth, then after a while I lose a big chunk of performance and the chassis gets really hot above teh keyboard.

ive tried lowering settings, which helps a bit, but the drop still happens, id like to understand whats limiting it before I start messing with tools I dont fully understand.

  2. If ure comfortable with it, undervolting the GPU (and sometimes the CPU, on models that allow it) can reduce heat noticeably at teh same clocks. Its not dangerous in itself, but unstable settings can cause crashes, so change one thing at a time and test thoroughly. Some laptops have it locked out entirely.

keep us posted! fingers crossed 🤞

  3. ahh classic check which GPU teh game is using and how the display is connected. Many laptops route the dedicated GPUs output through the integrated graphics, which costs some performance. If yours has a MUX switch or a "dGPU only" mode in its control software, enabling it can help. It usually needs a reboot.

  5. @tessr139 the discrete-GPU-only toggle plus performance mode made a bigger difference than i expected... havent touched undervolting and probably wont need to.

  6. lol same thing happened to me that pattren is the classic thermal or power limit kicking in. laptops often boost hard at first, then settle once teh cooling system is saturated.

    start with teh simple stuff:

    • Raise the back of the laptop for better airflow
    • Use it on a hard surface, never a bed or sofa
    • Check the vents for dust buildup
    • Use the manufacturers "performance" mode if there is one

A monitoring tool showing CPU and GPU temperatures and clock speeds will confirm whether its heat.
