LATE-GAME SLOWDOWN IN A GRAND STRATEGY GAME, IS MY CPU THE PROBLEM?

  1. hmmmm ok question about simulation-heavy strategy games. my late-game saves slow down massively, but none of my hardware looks maxed out in monitoring tools. total CPU usage is lowish, GPU barely working.

is this just how these games are? is there anything in-game or system-side i can do to keep a long campaign palyable?

  2. @cobalt_rider-3i9 are you running any mods that add content, or is this vanilla?

  3. oof vanilla, but on the largest map with max AI count 😤 per-core view shows two cores very busy and the others doing almost nothing. good luck man!

  4. lol same thing happened to me late-game slowdown is often about the amount of stuff being simulated, not ur hadrware getting worse 😅 more characters, units, pops, trade routes, whatever the game tracks, all grow over time.

    In-game options that usually help:

    • Smaller map or fewer AI factions for long campaigns
    • Settings that reduce teh number of simulated entities
    • Turning off unnecessary graphical features on the map (minor, but sometimes helps)
