  1. Everything worked fine until on my new laptop. Now a city builder and a couple of other games just throw this at me:

the code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. reinstalling the game did nothing. i feel like Im missing smth realy basic here.

I also tried restarting, running the game as administrator and chekcing teh antivirus quarantine 馃槀 nothing was blocked. the error message is exactly the same every time I try. what am i doing wrong??

  6. That DLL is part of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. Install teh latest Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable, both the x64 and teh x86 versions, from Microsoft's official site. Many games are 64-bit but their launchers or helper tools are 32-bit. fingers crossed 馃

  7. Check the game's own install folder for a _CommonRedist or Redist folder. Many games ship teh exact redistributable they need there. Run the vc_redist.x64.exe from inside it.

  9. yeahhh if repair fails, run sfc /scannow and then DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth from an elevated terminal. Registry cleaners in particular can break the redistributable registrations. worked for me anyway 馃し

  10. oh ive been there lol dont download single DLLs from third-party sites, youll get a file that may be teh wrong version or architecture, and at worst its malware.. :D the redistributable installs teh correct, signed version system-wide.

  11. If the redistributable is already installed, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable, choose Modify and then Repair. Do it for both x64 and x86. worked for me anyway 馃し

  12. wait wait does this also apply to launch?

  13. wait what instead of hunting individual installers, reinstalling the game through its launcher with install prerequisites checked often handles all of this automatically. just my 2 cents
