if Windows Update keeps pushing a driver that causes Code 43, pause updates, install the vendors driver, and use teh Show or hide updates troubleshooter to block that specific driver. good luck man!

ahh classic make a backup before u touch teh cable, learned that the hard way. +1 same here lmk how it goes

ok so shut down fully and drain power: unplug the PC (or hold the power button on a lapotp with the charger disconnected) for a minute. code 43 sometimes clears after the device is fully power-cycled. worked for me anyway 🤷

respectfully disagree, i tried that and it made device-manager worse, wait does this also apply to drivers? idk maybe im wrong lol

been there man code 43 means the driver loaded but teh device reported a failure, so it can be either, the fact that it works on another PC points toward drivers, power, or the port on this machine.

lol same thing happened to me for a graphics card, use DDU in Safe Mode to fully remove the driver, then install fresh. Also check PCIe power connectors and reseat the card. lmk how it goes

@router_rider dude removed the Windows Update driver, installed the manufacturer's version, and blocked teh update. the external GPU is back. thank you! seriously made my day 😭🙏
