start with the smallest tool that solves teh actual problem... many teams buy an all-in-one suite and use ten percent of it. A simple tool you actually use beats a powerful one nobody configured. hope that helps :)

  1. question for the group: how do u handle team password sharing? as a school IT volunteer, i can't justify enterprise prices, but i've been burned by free tools that disappeared or changed their terms. is self-hosting worth teh maintenance, or is a small subscription the sane choice? i'd rather pay a little each month than lose data or time later. real-world setups appreciated. horror stories are welcome too, they're often teh most useful part.

  2. Self-hosting looks free but ure paying with maintenance time. For monitoring and backups specifically, i prefer an external service: if ur server dies, a self-hosted monitor on teh same server dies with it. good luck man!

  5. nah tbh I'd argue for self-hosting more often than ppl think.. 馃う many tools run in a single container now, and you own your data completely.
