How To Tell If Resizable BAR Is Actually Working On Your PC

    ok so i read that modern GPUs support smth called Resizable BAR, which lets the CPU access the whole graphics memory instead of small chunks 馃槫 On my board it was off. To turn it on i had to:

    1. make sure the BIOS is in UEFI mode with CSM disabled.
    2. Enable "Above 4G Decoding".
    3. Enable "Re-Size BAR Support".

    After a reboot, NVIDIA Control Panel > System Information shows "Resizable BAR: Yes". Gains depend on teh game, but it was free to enable. Why isnt this on by default? thx in advance!!

    did you upadte teh BIOS recently? 馃槄 older BIOS versions might not show the option. ??

    ahh right BIOS was from launch, i updated it and teh Re-Size BAR option appeared. hope thats enough info 馃槄

    yeahhh check in GPU-Z (there's a Resizable BAR field) or in NVIDIA Control Panel > System Information. AMD's Adrenalin software shows Smart Access Memory status.

    if Windows was installed in Legacy/MBR mode, disabling CSM will make it unbootable. convert with mbr2gpt first (back up before you do anything).

    lol same thing happened to me benefits vary a lot 馃檹 Some titles gain a few percent, some see nothing, and NVIDIA enables it per-game through their driver profiles anyway.

    msinfo32 shows BIOS Mode: UEFI or Legacy... check that before turning off CSM so u dont lock yourself out of booting. good luck man!
