Accepted solution by Idris V. — ok so avoid unofficial driver sites and repackaged drivers. for network hardware especially, a tampered driver is a real risk. fingers…
  1. Quick question: my PCIe Wi-Fi card is from a previous laptop and Id like to use it in my current PC. Realtek offers 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet Driver. Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing? i dont mind some tinkering, but i dont want a security risk or random blue screens. If anyone has been through this with a similar old adapter, Id love to hear how it went and whether youd do it again or just buy a new one. what am i doing wrong??

  2. Does Windows show it as an unknown device or not at all? ??

  3. hmmm drivers for older Windows versions sometimes work on newer ones, but they may fail driver signature requirements or core isolation (Memory integrity). If Windows blocks it, dont disable security features just for an old adapter. hope that helps :)
