i downloaded NVIDIA Quadro Tesla Graphics Driver 307.45, teh download page clearly lists Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista 64-bit, and Im on one of those. i ran teh express install on my gaming laptop and got this:

it says the driver isnt compatible with this version of Windows. ive rebooted, run it as admin, redownloaded it. same thing. my current driver is quite old and i need the new one for a game. why would the installer refuse when the OS is listed?

That error is often misleading. Installers check the GPUs hardware ID against their INF file, not just the OS. Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids and compare. If you grabbed teh desktop package for a laptop GPU (or vice versa), ull get this exact message.
