  1. Quick request: Im trying to find the version of AC 97 ALC650 Audio CODECs Driver that came before teh current one 👍 The reason is simple, jack detection broke. Device Manager wont let me roll back since the old package isnt cached anymore 🙏 What are my safe options here? Im fine using Device Manager or the command line, I just need to know where a trustworthy copy lives and how to keep Windows from undoing the downgrade. Any pointers appreciated.

  2. been there man check teh PC or motherboard makers support page first, not just teh chip maker. Many keep older versions under a previous versions or show all link for ur specfiic model. good luck man!

  3. ok so the Microsoft Update Catalog lists many driver packages by hardware ID. Search for your device's hardware ID (Device Manager > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids) and pick an older entry. Download, extract the .cab, and install the INF via Device Manager > Have Disk. fingers crossed 🤞

  8. before downloading, check whether Windows still has the old package: pnputil /enum-drivers lists everything in the driver store with dates and versions... if its there, Device Manager > Update driver > Let me pick will show it. lmk how it goes

  10. Once installed, stop Windows Update from replacing it: use Device Installation Settings > No, or hide that specific driver update. hope that helps :)

  11. lol same thing happened to me avoid third-party driver download sites and driver updater tools :D They often repackage drivers, bundle extra software, or offer the wrong version for your hardware. fingers crossed 🤞
