oh ive been there lol disable USB power saving as a test: Power Options > Change plan settings > Advanced > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Disabled. then in Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers, for each USB Root Hub, untick Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

  1. so annoyed rn USB is acting cursed on my desktop.

    USB Audio Device Properties

a USB headset drops out at random, and the port stays dead until a restart 🤦 i updated the chipest driver from EVGA last week, and thats when it started. i checked Device Manager and sometimes a USB controller shows a warning. What should i look at first? Ive already tried another cable and a different device in the same port. Id rather not replace the motherboard if a setting can fix it. any ideas??

  2. roll back the controller driver: Device Manager > USB controllers > USB xHCI Compatible Host Controller > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver... note that teh inbox Microsoft xHCI driver is usually used; chipset packages mostly add INF names, but some incldue actual drivers. hope that helps :)

  4. Install the chipset package that the PC or mtoherboard maker lists for your exact model, rather than a generic one from EVGA, and check for a BIOS update. USB stability often depends on both.
