  1. i have an old laser printer thats bought long ago... it prints beautifully and Id hate to throw it away... windows doesnt recognize it properly anymore, and the ASRock support page lists 970 Extreme3 AMD all-in-one Driver 8.70a only for newer models... has anyone gotten an older printer working on current Windows? :) id love to know teh options before giving up on it... thanks in advance. any experience is welcome.

  2. in Add a printer > The printer that i want isnt listed > Add a local printer, click Windows Update in the driver list. it refreshes a large catalog of printer drivers, including many older models. good luck man!

  3. ok so avoid modifying old driver INFs or disabling driver signature enforcement. Its not worth weakening the system for a printer.

  7. lol same thing happened to me if no driver works, a small print server device or sharing it from an older machine are workarounds. Or accept its time for a new printer that supports driverless printing. good luck man!

  8. many laser printers understand generic PCL or PostScript. A generic or universal driver from teh vendor, or a driver for a closely related model in the same series, often works for basic printing. fingers crossed 🤞

yeahhh check the Microsoft Update Catalog using the printer's hardware ID (Device Manager > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids). older drivers are often still there.
